Marko Nikodijevic Chosen Artists’ Scholarship Holder of the German Study Centre in Venice in 2016

The Serbian composer Marko Nikodijevic will be a scholarship holder for artists of the German Study Centre in Venice in 2016. This was announced by the German Academy in Rome, Villa Massimo and Casa Baldi on 22 July 2015. Minister of State Monika Grütters emphasised: “Italy continues to be a place of great longing for us Germans. For the existential relationship between Germans and Italians in the spirit of scholarship, research, art and culture, I know few more emblematic and convincing places than Rome, Venice and Florence. These artists, selected from amongst a large number of applications, can discover the roots of Europe anew there, and produce new things in creative freedom. It is art that often creates the strongest bridges.“

Alongside Marko Nikodijevic, the following scholarship holders were selected from other fields: Carla Åhlander, Berlin (visual arts), Luc Döbereiner, Berlin (music), Carl-Christian Elze, Leipzig (literature), Dirk Hennig, Hannover (visual arts), Inga Kerber, Leipzig (visual arts), Johanna v. Monkiewitsch, Cologne (visual arts) and Christoph Poschenrieder, Munich (literature).

The organisation of the final selection process was supervised by the Cultural Foundation of the Federal Provinces.
