International Shostakovich Days in Gohrisch 2015

The programme of the International Shostakovich Days in Gohrisch, which will take place for the sixth time from 19 to 21 June 2015, are becoming ever more multi-facetted and interesting. Under the patronage of the widow of the composer (who died in 1975), Irina Antonovna Shostakovich, and the Saxon Prime Minister Stanislaw Tillich, concerts will be organised over the course of three days with music by Dmitri Shostakovich, Nikolai Miaskowsky and Arvo Pärt, whose 80th birthday will be celebrated this year. In addition, concert-goers will have the opportunity to become acquainted with the music of the Russian composer and Shostakovich contemporary Vsevolod Zaderatsky. All the artists performing this year will dispense with remuneration, as before, making possible this ambitious festival in the health resort of Gohrisch, which Shostakovich once personally visited.
