Daniel Smutny’s “12 Songs of a Love” Receives World Premiere

The piano duo Yaara Tal and Andreas Groethuysen, together with the SWR Vocal Ensemble Stuttgart, will perform the world premiere of Daniel Smutny’s new vocal work “12 Songs of a Love” for choir and two pianos under the direction of Florian Helgath at Schwetzingen Palace (Rokoko Theatre) on 30 April 2015. The concert is part of this year’s 64th Schwetzingen SWR Festival (25 April until 30 May 2015).

Another performance with the same interpreters is planned for 2 May 2015 in the Mozartsaal of the Liederhalle in Stuttgart. The “12 Songs of a Love” will also be produced for a CD recording on this occasion. In addition, excerpts from compositions of Daniel Smutny and Johannes Brahms will be part of a family concert of the series SWR Young CLASSIX on 10 May 2015, also at the Stuttgart Liederhalle. The performers, again, will be the pianists Yaara Tal and Andreas Groethuysen and the SWR Vocal Ensemble under the direction of Florian Helgath. At this concert, the music of Smutny and Brahms will be combined with a story by Lotte Kinskofer read by the moderator and reciter Malte Arkona.
