Three World Premieres of Works by Johannes X. Schachtner in April 2015

“Historien-Kantate No. 2”“Two Munich Monodies” and “Mare nostrum. Threnodie” are the titles of new compositions by Johannes X. Schachtner. All three works will be given their world premieres in April 2015.

The first of these will be the premiere of the “Historien-Kantate No. 2” at the Pfarrkirche St. Bernhard in Fürstenfeldbruck on 3 April 2015. This is a Passion according to the evangelist St. John for soli, choir and violoncello. The performers will be Adelheid Thanner (soprano), Stefan Thomas (tenor), Balthasar Schachtner (baritone), Philine Lembeck (violoncello) and the Choir of St. Bernhard under the musical direction of Simon Probst.

The second premiere will follow on 8 April 2015, this time at the Heppel & Ettlich Theatre in Munich. Katharina Bauer will be the soloist at Schachtner’s “Two Munich Monodies” for soprano solo after poems by Birgit Müller-Wieland. At this concert, Schachtner’s String Trio No. 2 “an/marien/dacht” will also be given its German premiere. The concert will take place as part of the series “stattHeimat” of the Munich Cultural Department.

The third Schachtner premiere will take place on 12 April 2015 in Weimar. Under the direction of Markus L. Frank, the Jena Philharmonic will perform the new orchestral work “Mare nostrum. Threnodie” during the course of the prize-winners’ concert of the Composition Competition of the 16th Weimar Spring Days.
