World Premiere of “Arrival of the Street King” by Moritz Eggert

Moritz Eggert’s ensemble music “Arrival of the Street King” for free-form youth ensemble, composed in 2014, will be given its world premiere on 16 November 2014 at the 25th Festival of New Music of the “Klangwerkstatt Berlin” (3-16 November 2014). During the course of the concert entitled “Good Music for Children from East and West” at the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Music School, the Orchestra of the Freie Jugendorchesterschule Berlin will present the work under the direction of Jobst Liebrecht.

The “Arrival of the Street King” was commissioned by the Freie Jugendorchesterschule Berlin. The Freie Jugendorchesterschule Berlin started their work at the beginning of the school year 2011 with pupils between five and nine years of age. The instrumental training focuses on orchestral instruments; there is also a guitar section that works according to the same concept: individual instruction and ensemble for all pupils right from the outset. Equal musical emphasis is placed on traditional classical and contemporary music. Pupils of all age groups with different instrumental abilities play together in the orchestra, which gave its first performance in 2012 at the “Klangwerkstatt”. The parts are of varying degrees of difficulty, but all are of equal importance.
