Jörn Arnecke’s “Gegen-Sätze” Given World Premiere in Heilbronn

The world premiere of the new work “Gegen-Sätze” for oboe and string orchestra by Jörg Arnecke will be at the centre of focus at the 3rd Heilbronn Concert of the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn on 5 November 2014, alongside Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Brandenburgischen Konzerten” (Brandenburg Concertos), at the Festhalle Harmonie in Heilbronn. “Gegen-Sätze” was commissioned by the Förderkreises für Neue Musik Heilbronn e.V. (New Music Furtherance Association Heilbronn) for the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn and was composed in 2013. Together with the oboist Céline Moinet, born in northern France, the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn will present this concert work under the direction of Ruben Gazarian.

The composer Arnecke, born in Hameln, relates “Gegen-Sätze” to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach in terms of content. Arnecke studied composition and music theory in Hamburg and Paris. Today, as a professor of music theory and ear training, he directs the Centre for Music Theory of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar. His music-theatrical works have been performed at the Hamburg State Opera, in Rheinsberg and at the Ruhr Triennial.
