Sergei Prokofiev Places High in Work Statistics 2012/13

The Deutscher Bühnenverein (German Stage Association) issues the extensive publication “Who Played What” each year with work statistics of the past season. The work statistics for 2012/13 have just been released, in which our publication “Peter and the Wolf” by Sergei Prokofiev, although not originally an opera in the customary sense, occupies a high place in the category of opera.

Sergei Prokofiev also dominates the category of dance works. The Prokofiev ballets “Romeo and Juliet” with a total of 112 performances occupies third place, and “Cinderella” finished in eleventh place with 43 performances - these remain the blockbusters of our publishing house. “Romeo and Julia” was only beaten by the Tchaikovsky classics “The Nutcracker” and “Swan Lake”, but was able to push “The Rite of Spring” by Igor Stravinsky – during that composer’s jubilee year, no less - into fourth place. As a ballet, “Peter and the Wolf” finished in thirteenth place in that category.
