Moritz Eggert‘s “1,2,3” Given German Premiere in Hamburg

In the Rolf-Liebermann-Studio of the NDR in Hamburg the Ensemble Resonanz and the Ensemble Variances will present the German premiere of the ensemble music “1,2,3” by Moritz Eggert under the direction of Jonathan Stockhammer.

In the project, the two ensembles are joining forces to participate in a composer portrait concert. For this occasion, Moritz Eggert wrote his new work “1,2,3” for this performance involving both ensembles. The programme will present the composer portrait as well as each ensemble as a sound-body in its own right. Each of the two ensembles will contribute its sonic identity to the programme: the Ensemble Variances is made up of six wind players, the Ensemble Resonanz of nine string players and a percussionist. This project is intended to open up the possibility of an exchange of perspectives as regards contemporary music. In this concert Eggert’s works “Croatoan II: In the sandbox” for percussion and string quartet, “Aboriginal” for two singing and beating pianists & one piano as well “Millennium Dance” for piano four hands will also be presented.

The world premiere of “1,2,3” was given on 20 February 2014 at the Arsenal de Metz as well presented by the Ensemble Variances (Ensemble-in-Residence at the Arsenal de Metz) and the Ensemble Resonanz (Hamburg) together with the composer Moritz Eggert (sampler) under the direction of Jonathan Stockhammer.

One day later, 9 October 2014 (7 PM), Moritz Eggert will be at the focal point at the Freie Akademie der Künste in Hamburg.
