Schnittke and Shostakovich Works: ECHO Klassik Prize Winners 2014

Two new recordings of works from the Sikorski catalogues will be awarded an ECHO Klassik prize during the course of the 21st ECHO Klassik ceremonial gala on 26 October 2014 in Munich (Philharmonie im Gasteig).

“The Shostakovich Album” with the “dogma chamber orchestra” under the direction of Mikhail Gurewitsch, released by Adiomax (MDG), has been honoured as the best symphonic recording of the year (category: music of the 20th/21st centuries). It contains the first recording of the version for string orchestra of the 24 Preludes, Op. 34 by Dmitri Shostakovich adapted by Grigory Korchmar. The second ECHO prize winner (category: ensemble/orchestra of the year) is the Bavarian Radio Choir with its production of Alfred Schnittke’s “Concerto for Choir”, released by the “BR Klassik” label.
