Marko Nikodijevic‘s “grid / index [II]” Given World Premiere in Berlin

Held for the fourth time this year, the festival FREISPIEL will be focussing on the audience as its main subject. According to the organiser, “the audience often remains stuck in its function as consumer of art and culture”. The audience/the public (Italian: “pubblico”) decides “regarding the success of artistic work – whether through demand or by its reaction to what has been heard and seen”, the organiser adds. The subtitle of this year’s festival is therefore “pubblico”.

During the course of this festival, Marko Nikodijevic’s “grid / index [II]” (1st Part, 6-minute last movement) for ensemble and electronic media will receive its world premiere on 10 August 2014 at the Admiralspalast in Berlin, performed by the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie conducted by Vimbayi Kaziboni. This chamber work, completed in 2014, was commissioned by the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and the Ensemble Garage with the friendly support of the Ernst von Siemens Foundation. The Ensemble Garage will perform the complete version of “grid / index [II]” at a later date.

A further performance will be given on 16 August 2014 (8 PM) at the English Theatre in Frankfurt where the festival takes place 15 to 17 August 2014.
