World Premieres by Xiaoyong Chen and Guoping Jia in Toronto

Works of the Chinese composers Xiaoyong Chen and Guoping Jia will be given their world premieres at this year’s “21C Music Festival” of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. On 21 May 2014, Chen’s “Talking through Distance” for pipa and flute as well as Jia’s “Sparkling in the Vast” for pipa and ensemble will be performed by Lan Weiwei (pipa) and Robert Aitken (flute) with the New Music Concerts Ensemble at Mazzoleni Concert Hall.

Xiaoyong Chen’s “Evapora” for flute, oboe, piano, violin and violoncello will also be performed at this concert.
