“Eterniday [Hommage à Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart]” by Lera Auerbach Given Danish Premiere

Lera Auerbach had to rewrite her in the autumn of 2009 almost completed work for bass drum, celesta and strings in 2010 because her manuscript was burned when there was a fire in her apartment.

“The manuscript of the new work was gone. I tried to remember what I had written, but soon gave up any hopes to resurrect it, the creative impulse behind this work was gone, and without my manuscript to guide me back I lost the sense of what this work was to me. So I decided to start anew and to write a different piece altogether. Even the instrumentation of the work changed - instead of a full chamber orchestra as was in my original sketch - now it was down to bass drum, celesta and strings” the composer said.

Now on 1 May 2014 the conductor of the world premiere in 2010 Daniel Raiskin, at that time with the Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz in Koblenz, will perform the Danish premiere of the orchestral work in Odense. This time Raiskin will conduct the Odense Symphony Orchestra in the Carl Nielsen Concert Hall. Lera Auerbach dedicated the work to the conductor.

A further performance takes place one day later on 2 May 2014.
