Ferran Cruixent: “Cyborg” Receives US Premiere

The American premiere of Ferran Cruixent’s “Cyborg” for orchestra will be given at the renowned Orchestra Hall in Detroit on 7 November 2013. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, whose home is Orchestra Hall, will present the orchestral work under the direction of its principal conductor, Leonard Slatkin.

The term “Cyborg” refers to a mixed-being out of living organism and machine. It usually describes people whose bodies are permanently completed by artificial components.

This work by the Catalonian composer, completed in 2010, was given its premiere on 2 May 2010 in Weimar, performed by the Staatskapelle Weimar under Christoph Poppen.

Another performance will take place on the next day, 8 November (8 PM).
