Polish premiere of Krzysztof Meyer’s “Chansons d’un rêveur solitaire”

Claudia Barainsky (soprano) and the Poznán Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Marek Pijarowski will present the Polish premiere of Krzysztof Meyer’s “Chansons d’un rêveur solitaire” for soprano and orchestra on 22 November 2013 in Poznán.

The soprano Claudia Barainsky already performed the world premiere of the lieder together with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra under Andrey Boreyko on 11 January 2013 in Düsseldorf.

Krzysztof Meyer has supplied the following commentary on his work:
”I love the French language in connection with singing and its prosody with the accent on the last syllable. Of the languages that I know and set to music, French is unquestionably the one closest to me. I find the poems of Verlaine ideal for two reasons: because his works are amongst my favourite poetry and, aside from their poetic qualities, they are outstandingly suitable for setting to music. I would not be surprised if Verlaine had thought of a connection between his poetry and music from the outset.” Whilst composing this work, Krzysztof Meyer reports, he was also able to attain a new relationship to expressivity, stimulated by the message of the texts. “It seems to me that the emotional climate in this composition is so heated that it reaches a temperature hardly found in any of my earlier works.”
