World Premieres of Works by Moritz Eggert in October 2013

Moritz Eggert’s ensemble music “Party Number 9” will receive its world premiere in New York, played by the Either/Or Ensemble directed by Richard Carrick on 17 October 2013 in Miller Theatre at Columbia University. The performance is part of the project “Cage100 Party Pieces”.

The “Party Pieces Project” is one of the most spectacular events in the entire CAGE100 festival. The idea is an extravagant version of one of John Cage’s compositions. More than 100 composers representing Germany and the United States have taken part in this unique group composition.

Two days later, on 19 October 2013 in Gießen, will follow the world premiere of the ballet “The Raven”. Taking his point of departure from Edgar Allan Poe’s poems and short stories, Tarek Assam investigates this author’s unique view of the world: sombre and sad – but permeated by an inexplicable magic. The music written especially for this evening by the renowned composer Moritz Eggert will be presented live by the Gießen Philharmonic Orchestra under the musical direction of Michael Hofstetter.
