World Premiere of Krzysztof Meyer’s “Five Contradances for two Orchestras“ in Gdańsk

On 21 August 2013 Krzysztof Meyer’s new work “Five Contradances for two Orchestras“ will receive its world premiere in the Park Oliwski at the Abbots’ Palace in Oliwa (Quarter of Gdańsk). The concert is part of the 8th International Mozart Festival “Mozartiana“ (18 till 24 August 2013) and will be presented by the Orkiestra “Feel Harmony” under the direction of Łukasz Borowicz in Meyer’s native country.

Krzysztof Meyer comments on his work:
“One orchestra plays fragments of certain Mozart contradances, the other ‘completes’ these. The first orchestra does not play the complete pieces, however, but only fragments of them; the second orchestra plays ‘my’ music, sometimes in another key, sometimes in another metre and another tempo. No chaos arises, however; everything fits together harmoniously - and this was an exciting task for me. In several fragments, both orchestras play in unison.”
