Polish Premiere of Krzysztof Meyer’s Opera “Cyberiad“

The Polish premiere of Krzysztof Meyer’s opera “Cyberiad”, in a production by Ran Arthur Braun, will be given on 25 May 2013 at the Teatr Wielki in Poznań. The soloists, choir and orchestra of the Teatr Wielki will present the Polish version of the three-act opera under the direction of Krzysztof Słowiński.

Krzysztof Meyer comments on his opera as follows:
“... There is far too little humour in modern art and, for this reason, I wanted to write a cheerful, comic opera. I searched for material for a very long time before reading the ’Cyberiad’ by Lem. From the first moment onwards I was so enthusiastic that I immediately decided to create a libretto out of it ... It is musique légère, and although I have applied the new techniques, it is nonetheless an opera for a wide public. If it had only been pure music, this work would surely have been more difficult to understand, but together with all the elements that go together to form an operatic spectacle, it isn’t particularly complicated ...”
