Ferran Cruixent: Duo Recital present World Premiere of “Melismas“ in Seoul

The two time winner of the german music award ‘ECHO Klassik’ Yeon-Hee Kwak (oboe) and Sun-Min Shim (marimba), known as the Duo Recital, will perform the world premiere of Ferran Cruixent’s ”Melismas“ on 30 March 2013 in Seoul. The 1976 in Bacelona born composer has dedicated his 2013 completed work to Yeon-Hee Kwak.

In 1999 Cruixent completed studies in piano and music theory at the “Conservatori Superior de Música de Barcelona,” simultaneously studying violin and voice as well. Between 2001 and 2003 Cruixent received a grant from the “La Caixa” Foundation.

In 2004 he completed an additional study programme in composition at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Munich with Dieter Acker and Enjott Schneider. 2006 Cruixent founded the online magazine “Stereotips” for musical analysis and criticism and in 2007, together with the fi lm director Joan Carles Martorell, the musical and visual project “Urban Surround.”

In the year 2010 Cruixent was invited by the international classical festival Sommersprossen Rottweil as “Composer in residence”, where several of his chamber works were performed. After that the festival include him as “Composer in residence” for this season 2013.
