Chen "Composer in Residence 2009" in Austria

Xiaoyong Chen has been named “Composer in Residence 2009” at the Danube University in Krems (Austria).

With this, the University is inviting a renowned composer for the second time - after the Azerbaijani composer Franghiz Ali-Zadeh - who will pass on his own experiences in discussion with students, scholars and international guests.

A work by Chen was already premiered in Krems in 2007. He will give several lectures and talks in Krems during the entire summer semester. In addition, he has received a commission for a composition for sheng (a Chinese mouth-organ) and ensemble which will receive its world premiere performance on 15 May 2009 during the course of a discussion-concert in Krems with the Ensemble of the Twentieth Century conducted by Peter Burwik.
