Two Menotti Operas Programmed at German-Language Opera Houses

The Italian-American composer Gian Carlo Menotti wrote operas such as "The Telephone" and "The Consul" for adults, but also an entire series of children's operas. His opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors" is frequently performed, especially during the winter months.

"The Telephone" a buffo opera for soprano, baritone and orchestra will now be performed on 14 and 15 April 2012 at the Miller Studio in Zurich. Menotti's children's opera classic "Help, Help, the Globolinks" will then be premiered on 18 April at the Kleines Haus of the Städtische Bühnen Münster on 18 April. The opera tells of the undesired visit of extraterrestrial aliens who can only be kept under control by a violin-playing child.
