News - Frankfurt Music Fair 2012

As it does every year, Germany's largest music fair – the Frankfurt Music Fair - will be opening its gates this spring. Alongside the complete assortment of instruments and scores, countless workshops, concerts and panel discussions will be offered from 21 to 24 March.

Sikorski Music Publishers will also be there with a booth for you. We are offering an extensive product palette from the areas of pedagogy, music for children and New Music.

Here is where you can find us:
Hall 3.1, Booth D 13

In the area of New Music there will be several new publications in the spring:

Sofia Gubaidulina's major oratorio "Passion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ according to St. John" based on texts of the Evangelist St. John consists of the parts "St. John Passion" (piano reduction SIK 8692) and "St. John Easter" (piano reduction SIK 8693). The 90-minute "St. John Passion" is the first Russian setting of the Passion ever made. The one-hour Easter oratorio based on St. John forms a contrast to the dark events of the Passion.

In addition, there are two more highlights in the edition series "New Arrangements" and "Modern Russian Music." These are an adaptation for clarinet and string quintet (SIK 1746) of Mozart's classic Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra in A major, K. 622 by Wilfried Gottwald and Michael Salamon, and Dmitri Shostakovich's "Orchestral Studies for Percussion" (SIK 2416).

The spring issue of our publications magazine 2/2012 is also new; in it, we concern ourselves with musical adaptations of the Faust material and the young, Serbian-born composer Marko Nikodijevic, amongst other subjects.

We look forward to your visit!
