World Premiere of Johannes X. Schachtner's “... In cruce pro homine ...”

The world premiere of Johannes X. Schachtner's “... In cruce pro homine ...” for mixed choir and organ will be given at a festival service and concert for the reopening of the Kirche St. Bernhard in Fürstenfeldbruck on 12 February 2012.

Schachtner's “Historic Cantata” for soprano and organ composed in 2010 will also be performed at the concert.

The composer comments on his new work as follows:

“In my composition ‘... in cruce pro homine ...’ I imagine a spot from the ‘Ave verum’ setting of W. A. Mozart: new elements are added to it, atonally tense lines are gained from stratifications. After a brief intensification, the setting pauses before fading away questioningly. The work was commissioned by the Parish of St. Bernhard in Fürstenfeldbruck on the occasion of the reopening of the church following renovation.”
