Findings - 16 Inventions: Swiss and German Premiere of Lera Auerbach's String Quartet

The "nathan quartet" native to Hamburg will present the Swiss premiere of Lera Auerbach's "Findings - 16 Inventions" in Basle on 20 January 2012.

This Fourth String Quartet of the composer, now living in the United States of America, received its world premiere already in 2007, given by the Parker String Quartet in Caramoor (USA).

The story of the origin of the work, which bears the title “Findings -16 Inventions,” is unusual. Auerbach reports that she found music manuscripts in the attic of an old house near Hamburg during one of her numerous stays in that city. These handwritten “findings” were processed into sixteen inventions for her new String Quartet.

On 28 January 2012 the work will be given it's german premiere in the Hamburger Laeiszhalle. This concert will also performed by the "nathan quartet".
