The Feast in the Sea

When the young Ninon finds out that she is HIV positive, she decides to leave her Gino so as not to infect him. Federico advises his son Gino to immediately separate from Ninon. However, Gino is determined not to leave his girlfriend and he asks her to marry him. After some hesitation, the fear-ridden, desperate Ninon accepts and the two plan their wedding.
Ninon’s father Jean is on his way by motorcycle from France in order to be at his daughter’s wedding in Italy. In Bratislava, Zdena, the bride’s mother, packs her suitcase and also sets off for Italy. Both parents are in a great state of worry over their daughter’s illness and each struggles to come to terms with the young girl’s fate. On the way to Italy, Zdena becomes acquainted with Tomas, whom she, to her own surprise, tells about Ninon’s illness.
All the guests finally arrive. At their daughter’s wedding, Ninon’s parents meet for the first time in nearly twenty years. They celebrate the wedding in good spirits at the mouth of a river with many branches. Here, where water and land seem to flow into each other, they all celebrate a festival in the sea, at which they eat, drink and dance enough to last them for the rest of their lives.
