European Premiere of Shostakovich's/Auerbach's “24 Preludes for Viola and Piano“ at the Verbier Festival

Lera Auerbach's adaptation "24 Preludes for Viola and Piano" based on Dmitri Shostakovich's 24 Preludes for Piano will receive its European premiere on 25 July 2011.

The adaptation was given its world premiere in June 2010 at the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival in the USA; the interpreters were Kim Kashkashian (Viola) and Lera Auerbach (piano).

Together with Kim Kashkashian, the composer will also present the European premiere. The concert is part of the Verbier Festival that takes place from 15 to 31 July 2011. This year Lera Auerbach is the composer in residence of the festival.
