Chinese Premiere of Xiaoyong Chen’s “Evapora“ in Shanghai

Xiaoyong Chen's "Evapora" for flute, oboe (clarinet), piano, violin and violoncello will be performed in China for the first time on 22 June 2011.

The concert will take place at the Conservatory in Shanghai, presented by the Ensemble Les Amis.

The composer has supplied the following commentary on his work composed in 1994:
"The title 'Evapora' is Latin and related to the English word 'evaporation.' I have transferred this visual image onto the acoustic level: sound - echo - nothing, similar to clouds - slightly foggy - invisible. This composition consists of three movements with different characteristics. The sound material is used sparingly in the entire piece."
