Spanish Premiere of Ferran Cruixent's ”Focs d’artifici“ in Gijón

Ferran Cruixent's “Focs d’artifici” (Fireworks) will receive its Spanish premiere on 5 May 2011 in the port city of Gijón in the north of Spain.

Cruixent, born in Barcelona in 1976, wrote his percussion concerto for Peter Sadlo, who gave the premiere in Reutlingen on 14 January 2008 with the Württemberg Philharmonic Reutlingen and the Chinese premiere on 8 October 2010 in Beijing.

Sadlo has already worked together with the composer on his concerto “Visions” for marimba and orchestra (2005) and the percussion quartet “Pirotecnia“ (2008).

The German percussionist will also present the Spanish premiere at the “Teatro de La Laboral” in Gijón, this time accompanied by the “Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias.”
