Sofia Gubaidulina at 80 – Important Concerts and Events in 2011/12

There will be numerous festivals, special events and concert performances during the 2011/12 season celebrating the 80th birthday of Sofia Gubaidulina (24 October 2011). For example, the Second Violin Concerto "In tempus praesens" composed for Anne-Sophie Mutter in 2007 will be performed 15 times all over the world this year.

For 2011 alone, 19 performances are planned for her Bayan Concerto "Fachwerk". The bayan player Geir Draugsvoll will make guest appearances at numerous European concert venues in 2011 with "Fachwerk," including Potsdam on 17 September (German premiere) and London on 24 November (British premiere). In addition, a Naxos recording will be issued in October with Draugsvoll performing as soloist with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra.
