”Gens Extorris:“ Russian and Belarusian Premiere of Alexander Raskatov's Piano Concerto

Alexander Raskatov's "Gens Extorris" (Latin = People in Exile) for piano and string orchestra received its world premiere in 2005 at the International Elba Festival in Italy.

The soloist at the world premiere, Mira Jevtic, will now perform the Belarusian premiere of the piece on 27 February 2011 in Minsk. Jevtic will be accompanied by the State Chamber Orchestra of Belarus under the direction of Alexander Anissomov.

"Gens Extorris" was commissioned by the Serbian pianist and is dedicated to the pianist's father-in-law Isaac Ruben, a Sephardic Jew who hails from Alexandria.

The work will receive its Russian premiere in St. Petersburg on 31 March 2011. The interpreters will be Mira Jevtic and the Orchestra of the Maryinsky Theatre under the direction of Valery Gergiev.
