Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf: “Homage à Wolfram Schurig” to be premiered in Luxemburg

Music for ensembles of different combinations is a point of emphasis in the oeuvre of the avant-gardist Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf.

The ensemble United Instruments of Lucilin will perform the world premiere of his new piece “Homage à Wolfram Schurig” on 28 January 2011 in Luxemburg.

Wolfram Schurig was born in 1967 in Bludenz and studied composition with Helmut Lachenmann at the Music Academy in Stuttgart. Since 1988 he has also been performing as a recorder player since in the German-speaking countries, France and Italy, participating in diverse radio and CD productions. Schurig is also intensively committed to Early Music and historical performance practice and was a founding member of several ensembles for Early Music. Since 1995 Schurig has been the artistic director of the “bludenzer tage zeitgemäßer musik” (Bludenz Contemporary Music Days). In addition, he is active as a journalist in the print media “Positionen” and “Musik & Ästhetik.”
