World Premiere: Moritz Eggert “Ohrwurm” on 17 October in Chemnitz

The “Cultural Circle of the German Economy in BDI” (registered association) has been supporting artists in the fields of architecture, the visual arts, literature and music since 1951. Each year the competition is held for a different instrument or area of classical music.

The awards ceremony of the competition, held for young singers this year, will take place on 17 October 2010 in Chemnitz.

One of the winners is the soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Müller who, together with Mihaela Tomi (piano), will perform the world premiere of Moritz Eggert’s new chamber music work “Ohrwurm” for soprano and piano during the course of the 59th annual conference of the Cultural Circle of the German Economy.

The composer has dedicated the work to the prize winner Hanna-Elisabeth Müller. His work is based on a text collage by the composer himself in which the following passage appears: “(I am your) catchy tune. Catchy tunes disguise themselves as harmless melodies and are true instruments of torture.”
