10th Anniversay of “Chamber Music Connects the World:“ World Premiere of “Brücken zu Bach“ by Giya Kancheli

The Georgian Giya Kancheli is one of ten composers who have been asked to support Gidon Kremer as chief mentor of the Kronberg event series "Chamber Music Connects the World." The composers have the task of adapting smaller Bach pieces from Glenn Gould's repertoire for chamber ensemble. The result of this is the cycle "Die Kunst der Instrumentation" (The Art of Instrumentation).

The 10th anniversary event "Chamber Music Connects the World" will take place from 9 to 19 May 2010 in Kronberg.

The world premiere of Kancheli's "Brücken zu Bach" for chamber orchestra by the Kremerata Baltica will take place on the last day of this cycle. The composer himself says that he only turned to Bach's motifs after great hesitation, noting that he finds quotations "inappropriate" in his work.
