Peter Ruzicka's "Celan" in Mainz and the Extensive Accompanying Programme

On the accompanying programme to the premiere of Peter Ruzicka's opera "Celan: Music Theatre in Seven Scenes" on 23 March 2003 at the Mainz State Theatre, a concert will take place on 9 February 2003 in which Ruzicka's First and Second String Quartets, Three Scenes for Clarinet Solo, "Ausgeweidet die Zeit..." and Six Songs on Fragments of Nietzsche for mezzo soprano and piano will be performed. Orchestral musicians of the Mainz State Theatre will be the interpreters.

On 23 March 2003, the "Villa Musica" in Mainz will present the concert "Poems of Paul Celan and Chamber Music of Peter Ruzicka with the Mainz Philharmonic Quartet. Also on 23 March 2003, the production team in the orchestral hall will carry out an introductory matinee at 11 o'clock at which Peter Ruzicka will also participate. On 28 March 2003 there will be a detailed composer's portrait concert dedicated to Ruzicka.

On 11 and 12 April 2003, Peter Ruzicka will conduct the sixth symphony concert with the orchestra and choir of the Mainz State Theatre as well as the soloist Miriam Contzen. The compositions on the programme are Ruzicka's works "Memoriam", "...Inseln, randlos..." and "Satyagraha."
