"Choc de la Musique" for Lera Auerbachs CD „Preludes and Dreams“

'Preludes and Dreams' - in which Lera Auerbach combines her roles as both composer and pianist performing her own 24 Preludes for Piano as well as Ten Dreams, and Chorale Fugue and Postlude - has received the coveted 2007 Choc de la Musique (Le Monde de la Musique).

On his third BIS release, violinist Vadim Gluzman returns to the young Russian-born composer Lera Auerbach, whose music was described in a Gramophone review as being 'put together with tremendous passion and imagination... the way she welds so many memorable moments into a convincing extended sequence shows a real composer at work.' Audiophile Audition wrote ‘This deeply affecting disc features pieces from two notable artists from the twentieth and twenty-first century: Dimitri Shostakovich and Lera Auerbach. They are oddly similar, even though the pieces are from opposite ends of the composers’ careers. It’s keenly disturbing and masterfully played.
