“Findings” and “Part.ti.ta:” Two Lera Auerbach Premieres

The world premiere of Lera Auerbach’s Fourth String Quartet will take place on 19 July in Caramoor, U.S.A., the composer’s country, performed by the Parker String Quartet. The story of the origin of the work, which bears the title “Findings -16 Inventions,” is unusual. Auerbach reports that she found music manuscripts in the attic of an old house near Hamburg during one of her numerous stays in that city. These handwritten “findings” were processed into sixteen inventions for her new String Quartet.

Another string chamber work is Auerbach’s “Par.ti.ta” for solo violin, which will be premiered on 29 July during the course of the Ansbacher Bach Weeks 2007 by the committed interpreter and friend of the composer, violinist Vadim Gluzman.
