Contemporary Russian Music with Sofia Gubaidulina, Edison Denisov, Alfred Schnittke and Galina Ustvolskaya
The new music scene in the Lower Saxon provincial capital of Hanover is very rich and committed. The event cycle presented by the pianist Natalia Konsistorum in her private home from 2 September to 17 November is on a yet broader temporal scale than the Hanover New Music Days from 5 to 7 October. The “Autumn Festival in the White House” – the ironically selected designation refers to the outer appearance of the building – is under the motto “Contemporary Russian Music.”
Amongst the works being presented are:
2 September 2007
Viktor Suslin: “Mobilis” and “1756” for solo violin
Sofia Gubaidulina: “Musical Toy” for piano
16 September 2007
Alfred Schnittke: Sonata No. 1 for violoncello and piano, Sonata No. 2 “Quasi una Sonata” for violin and piano, Trio for violin, violoncello and piano
7 October 2007
Galina Ustvolskaya: Sonata No. 6 for piano
Edison Denisov: “Birdsong” for prepared piano and tape
11 November 2007
Edison Denisov: “Sur le bucher du neige:” 24 Lieder to poems of Alexander Blok for voice and piano
