“Peter and the Wolf” Nominated for an OSCAR

The DVD production of Sergei Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” issued by the classic label Arthaus Musik was nominated for an OSCAR in the category of “best animated short film.” The film is an example of so-called “stop-frame animation,” a cartoon technique known through films such as “Wallace and Grommit” and “Chicken Run.” The film was produced by BreakThru Films in the Polish Se-ma-for Studios. It appeared on DVD issued by Arthaus Musik in the autumn of 2006. Besides the present nomination, “Peter and the Wolf” has been honoured often, with awards including the Golden Rose in the “performing arts” category in 2007, the Cristal d’Annecy for the best short film and from Redaktion klassik.com.
