Rodion Shchedrin Archive in Berlin

The archive of the Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin has been acquired by the Berlin Academy of Arts. The Moscow-born composer celebrated his 75th birthday last year. In 1973 he was appointed President of the Russian Composers’ Union and has been its Honorary President since 1989. Shchedrin’s most successful works include the 1968 “Carmen Suite” for string orchestra and percussion instruments.
