Ballet “Maria” with Lera Auerbach’s work “Dialogues on Stabat Mater” premieres in Nuremberg

In the first part of a new ballet evening at the Nuremberg Theatre, choreographer Goyo Montero presents a ballet entitled “Maria” on 18 December 2021, in which he uses the dialogues on Stabat Mater for violin, viola, vibraphone and string orchestra by Auerbach, played live by the Nuremberg Philharmonic Orchestra. The Nuremberg Theatre writes:

"This year's orchestral ballet premiere negotiates the universal humanity theme of the search for a better world in two independent yet interconnected choreographies. World star Diana Vishneva will embody the title role in ‘Maria’, inspired by the New Testament female figure of Mary Magdalene to music penned by the renowned composer and pianist Lera Auerbach. Montero does not approach his main character with any religiously motivated interpretation, but presents her as a strong personality.”
