German premiere of the joint composition March “Swan, Crab and Pike” in Berlin
This march was written on the initiative of Gennady Rozhdestvensky as an encore for a concert in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory on 15 April 1982, at which Edison Denisov’s “Peinture”, Sofia Gubaidulina’s “Offertorium” and Alfred Schnittke’s “Gogol Suite” were performed. It was used by Schnittke in 1985 as the introduction and finale of his ballet “Sketches”.
