Special concert celebrating Sofia Gubaidulina’s 90th birthday. In Orgelpark Amsterdam

On the occasion of her upcoming 90th birthday (24 October 2021), Dutch accordion soloist Vincent van Amsterdam is dedicating a special concert with musician friends to the jubilarian Sofia Gubaidulina at the Orgelpark Amsterdam on 9 October 2021. In 2014, the accordionist, born in 1989, completed his master’s degree cum laude at the Fontys Academy for Fine Arts Tilburg (NL). He was a winner at the Dutch Classical Talent Awards 2016 and won prizes at the Prinses Christina Concours (NL, 2007), the National Accordion Competitions (NL, 2008 and 2009) and the Dutch Conservatory Competition (NL, 2014).
Gubaidulina's works “Et expecto” for solo accordion will be heard in Vincent van Amsterdam’s Gubaidulina Concerto featuring Quirine Viersen (violoncello), Jan Hage (organ), Esther Kuiper (mezzo-soprano), Rogier de Pijper (flute), Tatiana Koleva (percussion) and James Oesi (double bass), “An Angel” for mezzo-soprano and double bass, “Light and Dark” for solo organ, Eight Studies for solo double bass (selection), “From the Visions of Hildegard von Bingen” for mezzo-soprano and “In Croce” for cello and accordion.
