Ferran Cruixent: “La victòria de la dona lluna” for girls’ choir and orchestra

The world premiere of Ferran Cruixent’s “La victòria de la dona lluna” for girls’ choir and orchestra, based on a text by Jaume Cristòfol Pons Alorda, will take place in Barcelona on 25 September 2021. Andrés Salado conducts the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès and the Cor de Noies de l'Orfeó Català. The work was commissioned by the Palau de la Música Catalana.

The writer Jaume Cristòfol Pons Alorda was born on 22 November 1984 in Caimari, Spain. He studied at the Open University of Catalonia, the University of the Balearic Islands and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. One of his most successful books is Ciutat de Mal, a narrative work published in Barcelona in 2019. But Alorda has now also published 25 poetic cycles, from which Ferran Cruixent chose the poem “La victòria de la dona lluna” (The victory of the moon woman) for his vocal work. This poem is about the mystical figure of a moon woman and her relationship to human longings. At the end it says: "(...) moon away / all is love / we are already the same".
