Boris Giltburgs arrangement of Shostakovichs String Quartet No. 8 for piano solo

The publication of Boris Giltburgs complete recording of Ludwig van Beethoven's piano sonatas (Naxos, 9CDs, CD-No.: 8.509005), which will be released recently, is an occasion to point out a second, highly interesting field of work of the Israeli pianist, who lives in Moscow. Giltburg has made a name for itself as an editor. He works on piano arrangements of selected string quartets from Dmitri Shostakovich for the Sikorski music publishers.
Shostakovichs String Quartet No. 8 for piano solo (SIK 1759) has already been published. The famous string quartet op. 110 had also used Rudolf Barschai for his chamber symphony op.110a, which was performed all over the world and which will now be performed again at the Rotterdam Philharmonic Gergiev Festival on September 18, 2021 (see extra article on this page).
