Shostakovich-Symposium 2021 in Berlin

The 20th Musicological Shostakovich Symposium is to be held in Berlin from 24 to 25 September 2021. The theme this year is “Shostakovich's Musical Language - Compositional Techniques and Narratives”.

The symposium will be held on 24 September 2021 in the concert hall of the Universität der Künste, Hardenbergstraße 33, 10623 Berlin, and on 25 September 2021 in the auditorium of the Goethe-Gymnasium, Gasteiner Straße 23, 10717 Berlin, both from 10 am to 6 pm.

On the second evening of the symposium (Saturday, 25 September 2021), there will also be a concert with the well-known duo Judith Ingolfsson (violin and viola) and Vladimir Stoupel (piano), including the Sonata for Viola and Piano op. 147 by Dmitri Shostakovich (Mendelssohn-Remise, Jägerstraße 51, 10117 Berlin / 8 pm). 

A total of 22 renowned Shostakovich experts have announced their attendance and will devote their lectures to the unmistakable musical language of the great Russian composer.
