EAMA Invites Sofia Gubaidulina to Paris

One of the most committed concert organisers and institutions for contemporary music in Paris is the EAMA (European American Musical Alliance) directed by Dr. Philip Lasser. The EAMA annually organises music programmes in the categories of composition, conducting and chamber music in succession to and in memory of the legendary composition professor Nadia Boulanger.

This summer, Sofia Gubaidulina will accompany the courses and events for a week. There will be a performance of her work Perception for soprano, baritone, seven strings and tape based on verses of Francisco Tanzer and Psalms on 10 July 2008 in the presence of the composer. The performers at the concert in the Salle Cortot, Paris, will include Ravanne Dupuis (soprano) and Joel Mitchell (baritone). The conductor will be Mark Shapiro.

Sofia Gubaidulina will also participate in a roundtable discussion immediately following the concert. The EAMA designated this stay in Paris of the most important woman composer of the present day as one of the rare opportunities to meet Sofia Gubaidulina personally and to experience her in conversation.
