The Lucerne Festival Presents Gubaidulina’s “In tempus praesens” as Film and CD

Sofia Gubaidulina’s violin concerto “In tempus praesens,” composed for Anne-Sophie Mutter, was premiered at the 2007 Lucerne Festival by the dedicatee and the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Simon Rattle. Now, at this year’s festival on 19 September 2008, the concert recording of the world premiere commissioned by Swiss television will be shown as a world premiere at the Lucerne Concert Hall, alongside the 60-minute documentary film by Jan Schmidt-Garre which accompanies the process of the work’s creation up until the world premiere and was already broadcast on German television in April 2008. There will also be a podium discussion with Anne-Sophie Mutter and Sofia Gubaidulina during the course of the film presentation. Finally, Deutsche Grammophon will also present the recently released CD of “In tempus praesens” (DG CD 7743711), also containing the violin concertos of Johann Sebastian Bach, in the presence of the two artists.
