Alina Ibragimova and Vladimir Jurowski with a new recording of Shostakovich’s violin concertos

Hochgeladene Datei

In a television portrait on the Bavarian TV programme “KlickKlack” on 19 May 2020, violinist Alina Ibragimova spoke about her feelings during the new recording of Dmitri Shostakovich's two violin concertos No. 1 in A minor, op. 77 and No. 2 in C sharp minor, op. 129. “These are the best moments when you stop thinking. You don’t play the music, it plays you.”

Indeed, the violinist lends a truly eloquent character to these concerts, which are imbued with the most diverse moods. Implementing an expressive, warm tone, but also with sharp contrasts, the soloist devotes herself to these standard works of the concert repertoire, which constantly raise new questions and have already been interpreted in great variety by the greatest violinists.

“The collaboration between Alina Ibragimova and Maestro Vladimir Jurowski began in 2015 when they recorded Mendelssohn’s two violin concertos with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment,” reports the Hyperion label. The magazine “Gramophone” wrote at the time: “Apart from the perfect balance and all the ear-opening details, this interpretation is above all one thing: truly and sincerely playing music from the heart. Outstanding.” Since then Ibragimova and Jurowski have often performed together in great mutual esteem.
