KLANG! with Sounds by Kaija Saariaho Starts in Hamburg

The ambitious first Festival KLANG! will start in Hamburg on 28 September with two concert programmes free of charge at the Rolf Liebermann Studio and at Kampnagel with a “Day of New Music.” This highly promising festival for new music is being financed by funding by the Federal Cultural Foundation, the Hamburg cultural authorities and private sponsors.

Composer-in-residence of the first KLANG! season is the Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho. At the KLANG! concert on 28 September, the Ensemble Resonanz will perform, amongst other works, “Nymphéa” and “Clara Maida” by Saariaho as well as the world premiere of her new composition “mutatis mutandis.” Dr. Margarete Zander will conduct a discussion with the composer to accompany the concert. In addition, there will be a dance project with children to Kaija Saariaho’s ballet music “Maa” and film presentations about the composer and her works.
