SCHUBERT & SCHNITTKE: Hamburg Camerata plays on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Alfred Schnittke’s death

In cooperation with the German Alfred Schnittke Society, the Hamburg Camerata will also be participating in the many special concerts given on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the death of Alfred Schnittke. At their concert on 11 November, they will contrast works of Schnittke with Franz Schubert’s Sixth Symphony.

Robert Hille, the new managing director of the Hamburg Camerata, commented on the event as follows: “The cooperation with the Schnittke Society, the planned presence of Schnittke’s widow and the fact that after many years of polishing and continuity with Max Pommer, Professor Gothoni will now be working with us in the double role of pianist and conductor, is a fortunate constellation.”

Alfred Schnittke:

Trio Sonata based on the String Trio (1987) adapted for chamber orchestra by Yuri Bashmet

Piano Concerto (1979)

Franz Schubert:

Symphony No. 6 in C major, D589
