Sofia Gubaidulina’s Triple Concerto and its Icelandic premiere in Reykjavik

The Latvian violinist Baiba Skride, Dutch cellist Harriet Krijgh and Swiss bayanist Elsbeth Moser premiered Gubaidulina’s Triple Concerto for Violin, Violoncello, Bayan and Orchestra in Boston in February 2017 together with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the baton of its principal conductor Andris Nelsons Sofia Gubaidulina. The Triple Concerto was commissioned by the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Carnegie Hall, the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. On 5 June 2020, the same soloists are to perform the work in Reykjavik for its Icelandic premiere. They will be accompanied by the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Oltari Elts.
